Mohd Hadera leads Golden Boot race

SIBU: P. 206 FC’s prolific striker Mohamad Hadera Bakri has set his sights on the Golden Boot Award in the ongoing Sarawak Central Zone Soccer League 2019.

He has overtaken the leaders in the top scorers list after scoring f ive goals in P. 206 FC’s 11- 0 whitewash over bottom placed Kiki Vesco in Group D last weekend.

Up to Week 9, Mohamad Hadera has nine goals from three matches to top the summit, followed by Sessang FC’s hitman Charles Ajang Engan with seven and Sebastian Keneth ( Despacito) with five. Also in the running are Ady Sucipto ( V8) and Paul Sambang (Sessang FC) with four goals each.

“I am so happy to be able to score for the team and compete with the current top scorers,” Mohamad Hadera told The Borneo Post when contacted yesterday.

“There’s room for improvemen­t and I need to work on certain areas for the coming games.

“I also hope all the players in the team will give their level best to book a ticket to the quarter final,” he added.

Winners of Golden Boot ( top scorer) and Golden Hand ( best goal keeper) will each pocket RM1,000.

P. 206 FC’s win over Kiki Vesco was their third in a row as they dislodged Despacito from pole position.

It also was a record of sorts for the five-month long league with the 11 goals being the most scored in a single match thus far.

Other matches played over the weekend saw Nangka United edged R13 FT 2-1 in Group C match while in a Group B clash TMP SB beat Kebana 3-2.

Earlier on Friday, Nazario BNG won 4- 2 against Panas FC in a Group A clash.

The league will take a onemonth break starting next week to observe the holy month of Ramadan.
