-

MARUDI: About 4,000 people from Beluru converged on Rumah Egang in Sungei Selepin to attend a dialogue with Marudi assemblyman Datu Dr Penguang Manggil and other Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

The other GPS leaders attending the function were Bintulu MP Dato Seri Tiong King Sing who is also president of Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), GPS secretarygeneral Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, Baram MP Anyi Ngau, Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting and Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

In his remarks Penguang, who is also PDP vice-president, cautioned his constituents to not be influenced by ‘money politics’ practised by certain quarters in their bid to take ove the Marudi seat from GPS.

“Let us not let ourselves continue to be deceived by such bait, but support the people who are able to bring progress and development to us here,” he said.

He called upon the people to support GPS, which had a clear agenda to develop the area; instead of supporting those who could only make promises but did not have any programme or plan to bring development to the people.

“Never follow those who have unclear purposes and vision. I hope we would work together to make sure that our people would not be fooled by money, food, singers and concerts.”

Meanwhile, Uggah said he was touched by the massive show of support for GPS from the people, based on their presence at the session.
