167 education staff receive award
KAPIT: The director of State Education Department, Dr Azhar Bin Haji Ahmad was on hand to present 167 Excellent Service Award 2018 (Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang) to staff from Kapit and Song at Kapit Civic Centre on Friday.
Out of the total, 123 recipients from Kapit District and 44 from Song District comprised staff from the districts’ Education Department, teachers and support staff. Dr Azhar congratulated the recipients and hoped the award would serve as inspiration and motivation to adopt excellent work culture.
“The award was introduced in 1993 as recognition of civil servants who gave their best throughout the year and as motivation towards innovation and high performing culture in the civil service to enhance the delivery system.
“The Minister of Education appreciates your commitment and contribution to provide holistic education to students,” Dr Azhar said.
He advised teachers to adopt lifelong learning and not to rest on their laurels. Develop thirst for knowledge in the process of ‘teaching and learning’. A teacher must have discipline, integrity, commitment and dedication. Kapit Education Officer Ringgit GawanSaut also spoke at the function.
Kapit deputy education officer Awang Saiful Bin Awang Ahmad, Song education officer Dangkan Duncan Luta, organising secretary Philip Keling assisted by Rebecca Manggie Kasaw, principal of SMK Kapit 1 Azlinda Mohd Nor, principal of SMK Kapit 2 Azman Hailee, principal of SMK Selirik JaritJermit were among some five hundred teachers and staff from Kapit and Song Education Department present at the award giving ceremony.
