KUCHING: After winning four medals at the recent 20th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championship (AYBC), Gillian Lim Siew Giok is looking forward to another good performance at the 40th Malaysian International Open Tenpin Bowling Championship at Sunway Megalanes, Sunway Pyramid, Petaling Jaya on April 26-May 4.

The 20-year-old, who was born in Kuching but raised in Miri, bagged the AYBC Girls Masters gold medal after beating top ranked qualifier Shin Hyebin of South Korea 200-184 and 184164 to achieve Malaysia’s two gold medals target in the biennial championship held here this month.

Earlier in the competition, Gillian had partnered Nur Syazwani Sahar to lift the Girls doubles gold medal. She also won a silver in the Girls All-Events and a bronze in the Girls Team (of four).

“I am very happy with my performance in this meet and winning two gold, one silver and one bronze medals. However, I am quite disappointed with the result in the team event,” said Gillian.

It was her first stint in AYBC, but it was also her last.

The Sunway College student who is pursuing a Diploma in Communications will also be making her final appearance in Sukma Johor next year.

“For the Malaysian Open, I have yet to set a target because I was focusing on the Asian Youth championship.

“However, I shall try to do my best in the competition and give the other bowlers from Malaysia and other countries a good fight,” she added.
