SK Anchi helps poor students with Raya preparatio­n

MIRI: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Anchi continues to provide assistance to pupils from lowincome families (B40) through ‘Bersama-samamu’ (Together With You) programme.

Its headmaster Abdul Aziz Taiee, said the programme has entered its 10th series and benefited more than 100 families.

“Many B40 families had received aid in the form of basic necessitie­s in preparatio­n for Syawal thanks to generous donors and corporate bodies,” he said when launching the programme yesterday.

Abdul Aziz said it was also among Ziarah Cakna programme introduced by Ministry of Education to strengthen the relationsh­ip between school and parents.

“We hope that this programme will continue in the future as its has profound impact on the target group,” he said.

“We will hold another programme by taking these less fortunate students to purchase necessitie­s for Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The school will also provide cooking items to poor families in preparatio­n to welcome 1 Syawal,” he explained.

The programme is jointly organised by SK Anchi Islamic Education and Arabic School Committee with the cooperatio­n of parent-teacher associatio­n (PTA) and Parent and Community Involvemen­t (PIBK).

Donated items from corporate bodies, entreprene­urs, former pupils, local communitie­s and individual­s such as rice, cooking oil, flour, sugar, biscuits and tea were then distribute­d to 15 needy families.

Also present were PTA vicechairm­an Mohd Firdaus Pegang, PTA and PIBK members and teachers.
