In his speech when handing over of the grants during a meetthe-people session at the new site of Rumah Intang, Jugah said Pakatan Harapan government is working hard to ensure that the welfare of the people especially those in the rural area is being taken care of.

“We must make the people’s welfare a priority. I want to work together with Lubok Antu folk, irrespective of their political ideology, to bring in development to their area.”

The programme was jointly organised by the Safety and Security Committees of Rumah Intang and Rumah Sabang.

In view of this, he said roles of the people’s representatives from federal government as well as collaboration and support from local community leaders are vital in ensuring that the people are well informed of government policies and development projects.

“This good relationship is important to enable all developments meant for the people can be implemented smoothly.

“In fact, 75 per cent of longhouse chief allowances are paid by the federal government. Therefore, we hope they can continue to work together with us and give Pakatan Harapan their full and undivided support,” he said.

Jugah also encouraged all longhouse chiefs and local community leaders to attend meetthe-people sessions which are held regularly at various locations so that they can voice their concerns as well as exchange ideas.
