Di Wannie Cake unveils latest delight

KUCHING: Sarawak ‘kek lapis’ maker Di Wannie Cake has unveiled its latest creation - Pandan Cheese Cake – in time for this year’s Gawai Dayak and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebratio­ns.

The green-cream-white creation is yet another premium cake made using Anchor butter, Philadelph­ia Cheese and pandan flavours.

“Since we started selling it last year, the cake received great response from our customers and it has been selling like ‘hot cakes’,” said manager and owner Mahathir Bujang.

“All of our cakes at Di Wannie Cake are premium Sarawak kek lapis using original recipes and made with high-grade butter. Our top selling cakes are the ‘Sisik Ikan’ and ‘Masam Manis’. We have been in business for 12 years now.”

Mahathir and founder Zoraidah Lin both reassured that all of the 24 cakes are premium cakes of high quality and delicious.

“Here in Di Wannie Cake, we strive to ensure that all of our cakes are top-notch, made with only the finest and high-quality ingredient­s.

“Among our ingredient­s are Anchor butter, Philadelph­ia Cheese, Milkmaid Sweetened Condensed Milk, Horlicks and Milo.

“Plus, with us being awarded with Halal certificat­ion, quality is of our top priority,” Zoraidah said.

“In conjunctio­n with Ramadan, Di Wannie Cake also makes an assortment of ‘kek asli’ such as ‘kuih talam’. Customers can place their orders a day before their events as this kind of cake would not last long,” Mahathir added.

It is later learnt that Di Wannie Cake also provides training and consultanc­y.

According to Zoraidah, those who are interested to learn how to make kek lapis as a business undertakin­g may approach her for weekly classes.

“Besdies offering training on how to make kek lapis, we also provide cooking classes. Those interested may contact me at 0138100646 to make arrangemen­t.”

Customers coming to Di Wannie Cake shop will be spoilt for choice as there are 24 different types of kek lapis to choose from – offering different colours and flavours.

The cakes are also excellent choice for gifts as it is the only vendor that has a special box packaging for its kek lapis.

Di Wannie Cake is located at Lorong Satok 9, Jalan Satok, 93400 Kuching. Its opening hours are from 8.30am to 9.30pm daily during this Ramadan month.
