KUCHING: Local author Malcolm Mejin has taken the nation by storm with his novel titled ‘Diary of a Rich Kid’ and loves all his fans for their support.

During his tour to promote the book, he has met fans from all walks of life and has never gotten tired of meeting old and new ones.

“They were from different nationalities. Some even came as far away as New Mexico. It was so cool. I was like, ‘wow’,” he told thesundaypost.

“Everyone I have met during my book tour is special. My fans are, like, the sweetest things ever. They brought this beautiful bulb of positive energy.”

One of the sweetest moments was of him receiving a rose during one of his numerous book signing events.

“I was so touched. It was so sweet.” Some people who have never heard of the novel before became a fan soon after due to recommendation from friends, and after reading the book.

Besides promoting his novel, Malcolm has also given talks to schools across the country.

“When I go out there and do my thing, which is giving talks to young people, I try to stay in the presence of positive energy. It’s really fun, and I love doing what I do. It’s really cool to connect with them, and see the individualities in this wondrous fabric.”

whenever I’m signing books or giving talks. It just pumps me up,” he said.

When asked what was the craziest question asked by a fan, he replied: “Actually, there was a lot. But I remember someone asking me when I was going to write ‘Diary of a Poor Boy’. I thought that was kind of funny, and maybe I will, in an interesting way. And also there were questions about whether I’m single and available, my age, stuff like that. It really cracked me up.”

Malcolm was also asked by thesundaypost if something unexpected happened during his book tour.

“I was so used to signing books, so when I was asked to sign their cellphones, their shoes, their bodies, I was like, that’s cool, you know.” Malcolm added that he loves his fans, and is planning to give back to the community, which is still in the works.
