MARUDI: Kampung Pemindahan Marudi Chinese section village security and development committee (JKKK) chairman Kapitan William Lim Kim Hin is honoured that the Sarawak government has recognised his contributions to the community.

The 79- year- old was conferred the Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang ( PBK) by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Taib Mahmud in conjunction with the latter’s 83rd birthday celebration on Saturday.

“I thank the Sarawak government, especially Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing, who is Marudi assemblyman, Datu Dr Penguang Manggil for such a prestigious recognition of my contributions to the community,” he said.

“Being a kapitan and a chairman for JKKK Kampung Pemindahan Chinese section for N76 Marudi, it is my responsibility to be a bridge and to listen to the needs of the people in my area. Let us be the eyes and ears of the GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) state government for the feedback from the people.”

He added that community leaders must stay focussed on their duties according to their appointments.

“We must stay united and strongly support the GPS state government,” he said.

Lim has previously received the Bentara Bintang Sarawak ( BBS), Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji ( PPT), and Ahli Bintang Sarawak ( ABS).

Meanwhile, the retired agricultural assistant said he strongly rejected the setting up of the Village Community Management Council ( MPKK) in Kampung Pemindahan Marudi.

“MPKK’s formation is not welcome and will only make the people have disputes,” he said while urging all community leaders to reject MPKK.
