PKR Serian sets up Riih Mawang branch
SERIAN: Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) Serian branch recently set up its latest sub branch in Kampung Riih Mawang to reinforce the party’s presence in Bukit Semuja constituency.
PKR Sarawak state leadership council ( MKN) member Reginald Abel, who was invited to officiate at the launch, said PKR Serian branch wants the party to contest in Bukit Semuja in the coming state election.
“Based on the response from the people, we believe PKR has the advantage to win Bukit Semuja given the strong support from the people in the constituency towards PKR,” he said.
Abel, who is also PKR Serian deputy chief, also said he was overwhelmed by the good response and support from the people of Bukit Semuja irrespective of race, religion and background towards the party.
He said this proved that PKR is a multiracial party which is accepted by the people there as it strives for better future for the people.
“This indicates that PKR as a multiracial party is the best Pakatan Harapan party to wrest and win Bukit Semuja from Gabungan Parti Sarawak ( GPS) in the 12th state election,” he added.
Bukit Semuja, a Bidayuhmajority seat, was one of 11 new seats introduced in the 2016 state election.
John Ilus, then from Barisan Nasional ( BN) and now with GPS, won the seat with a majority of 3,144 votes in a five- cornered fight in which Edward Andrew Luwak from Democratic Action Party ( DAP) represented PH that time.
During the simple launching ceremony Abel handed over the party flag to PKR Riih Mawang sub branch chairman Tatal Janteng and congratulated him and his committee members for setting up the sub branch.
Also present at the event were PKR Serian chairman Cyril Langin and the branch treasurer Alex Saben Nyipong.
On a related matter, Abel also explained to the gathering the functions of the Village Community Management Committee ( MPKK) which will be set up by the PH federal government in villages in Sarawak in January next year.
He advised PH members to choose their MPKK chairman and secretary by consensus.
As far as Serian is concerned, he said those appointed by PKR as official negotiators for MPKK positions are himself, Alex Saben, Cyril and Senior William Rade.
“Any names other than the above mentioned persons are null and void. PKR members are advised not to listen to any unscrupulous characters,” he said.
