462 students receive Yayasan Sarawak’s uniform vouchers

MIRI: Bekenu assemblywo­man Rosey Yunus distribute­d Yayasan Sarawak’s school uniform vouchers to 462 students from 32 schools in her constituen­cy yesterday.

It was held at Bekenu multipurpu­se hall, and among those present were assistant director of Yayasan Sarawak Ismallia Bohari, Subis District Officer Jamalie Busri, a representa­tive from Subis District Education office Mohd Bakhtiar Abdul Azid, and Pemanca Ali Mudin.

many educationa­l programmes to ensure all Sarawakian­s, especially those from disadvanta­ged families, would have the same opportunit­y to continue their education to the highest level.

“Various educationa­l aids worth millions of ringit each year have been provided by the state government through various agencies including Sarawak Foundation for the benefit of students. Thus, there is no reason for parents to say their children cannot go to school because of poverty,” she said.

However, parents still had roles to play in the education of their children, she added.

At the function, Rosey handed over MRP grants totalling RM48,000 to nine JKKKs and NGOs in the constituen­cy.
