Organisers pledge to make Tasik Biru Fest exciting for years to come

-

BAU: Tasik Biru Fest organisers have assured the public that they will make the event exciting year after year, through the introduction of more diverse activities.

This is in line with the call made by Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, who has highlighted the need for the festival to be more interesting in view of the organisers wanting to attract more visitors to this district every year.

“This festival is an iconic festival for Bau. During this event, Bau town would be receiving around 30,000 visitors – some of them coming from as far as Sibu,” said Henry, adding that this vision would bode well with more new infrastructures being set up across Bau.

Citing a couple of examples, Henry spoke about the establishment of a ‘living museum’ to showcase the history of gold mining in the district, and the proposed construction of a 60m pedestrian bridge across the namesake ‘Tasik Biru’ (Blue Lake) there.

“These infrastructures bring the potential of attracting tourists to Bau. I also believe they will make the Tasik Biru Fest more attractive going forward,” he said.

The three-day concluded yesterday, festival where

Kuching Resident Sherrina Hussaini officiated at the closing ceremony.

The event hosted many fun and engaging activities the famous Jong Regatta, raft tug-ofwar, street soccer, video games challenge, colouring competition, flower-decoration contest, an arm-wrestling competition, as well as a ‘ pesta rakyat’ (folk games).

There were stalls selling various food and drinks, as well as an exhibition run by various governmental and nongovernmental organisations.

Bau District Officer Anielia Siam was among those witnessing the closing ceremony.
