Sabah group turns to Hope Place Kuching for guidance in running non-profit operation

-

KUCHING: The work of Hope Place Kuching in providing muchneeded assistance to families facing difficulties throughout Sarawak, has caught the attention of volunteers from Sabah.

The group, comprising young working adults from Kota Kinabalu, recently approached Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan for advice and guidance, having formed their own non-profit organisation called ‘Arm of Hope’, according to a press statement issued yesterday.

It said Arm of Hope, whose mission is similar to that of Hope Place, was registered in April this year, but the group’s lack of experience in running the operation led them to contacting Wan, having heard of Hope Place’s work through social media.

Wan gladly obliged to their request and conducted a sevenday intensive training programme for them in the Sabah capital last week.

“The training included the skills of interviewing people case by case and how to ration different food items for needy families,” said the statement.

Arm of Hope has been assisting nine needy families since commencing operation in April. It recently carried out a two-week fundraising campaign at City Mall Shopping Centre for a needy family, receiving good response from the public.

Hope Place currently supports more than 190 needy families.

For more information on its activities, Hope Place can be contacted on 082-505987 (Mondays to Fridays, 8.30am to 5.30pm) and from 8.45am to noon on Saturdays.

Those interested to donate to Hope Place can do so through its Maybank account No.
