Earth-breaking ceremony held for Sg Bena Bridge

-

KAPIT: Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang officiated the earth-breaking ceremony of Sungai Bena Bridge in Sut, Baleh here on Saturday.

The bridge is under the road and bridge infrastructure project funded by the Upper Rajang Development Authority ( Urda).

The RM38 million project consists of the construction of a bailey bridge across Sungai Bena at Nanga Plak, a 500m R3 road to Rumah Undi as well as a 3km road from SK Rantau Panjai to Rumah Seli which will also include two bridges.

Nyabong said upon completion, the bridge and access road will link Rumah Undi to the main road as residents in the area will no longer need to use a boat to cross Sungai Bena.

“Land owners whose lands are affected by the project are advised to work closely and cooperate with the contractor to ensure that the construction runs smoothly so that the people will be able to benefit from the new infrastructure soon.”

He also took the opportunity to call on voters under his constituency to vote for those who have served and delivered their promises all these years.

“We vote for the right candidate who is dynamic and capable to serve. Since I was elected in the last State Election in 2016, my focus has always been on infrastructure development in my constituency.

“For the past three years, many infrastructure projects have been implemented such as the tar- sealed road of Jalan Antaroh from the junction of Jalan Bukit Goram, and Jalan Jiwa Murni from Nanga Pelagus to Nanga Mujong.”

He urged voters to ignore Pakatan Harapan ( PH) in the next State Election as the coalition comprised peninsulabased component parties.

“PH leaders are from Peninsular Malaysia and they have no interest in Sarawak. They only want to rule Sarawak and not develop it.

“Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) comprises Sarawak-based political parties such as PBB, PRS, SUPP and PDP. Our hearts and mind are all for developing the state,” he stressed and called on voters to support GPS candidates to safeguard the interests of Sarawakians.
