KGS committed to match the best in the region
KUCHING: Kelab Golf Sarawak (KGS) remains committed to elevate its course to be on par with the best in the region.
Henry Chuo Kuong Hang said when he took up the club captaincy he had promised to improve the courses, fairways and greens and make KGS into a formidable venue to host more prestigious tournaments.
“The path towards achieving this mission takes time, money and good management.
“But the results so far has indicated a positive move of our club in that direction and together, we shall work to achieve our ultimate goal,” he said at the prize presentation lunch for the KGS Captain’s Trophy, Deputy Captain’s Trophy and Ladies Captain’s Trophy golf tournament at KGS on Saturday.
KGS, he revealed, had started from a humble beginning and it now boasts a 36-hole immaculate course, kept in pristine conditions.
“There are yet many plans for further improvements,” he pledged.
He then ran through the list of top tournaments that KGS has hosted just this year such as the 117th Malaysian Amateur Open, PGM Sarawak ADT Tour, 21st Sarawak Chief Minister’s Cup Sarawak International Junior Golf Championship, KGS Junior Open, Sarawak Amateur Open and Sarawak Senior Amateur Open/Closed.
According to Chuo, hosting these tournaments gave KGS and its members the valuable international and regional exposure.
“Hopefully, KGS will get to host more prestigious events in the coming years which would see to good incomes for the club and put in on the same pedestal as other prestigious clubs in the region.
“Other facilities such as tennis, badminton, squash and swimming also have programmes for the members and their family members.

Also present at the event were KGS deputy president Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, deputy captain Mazlan Mohd Salleh, Ladies captain Celine Foo and KGS committee members.
