La Trinidad City Council to sign MoU with MCC

MIRI: La Trinidad City Council (LTCC) of Benguet, Philippine­s will be signing a memorandum of understand­ing (MoU) with Miri City Council (MCC) today.

The delegate headed by Mayor Romeo K. Salda paid a courtesy call on Miri Mayor Adam Yii at council’s office yesterday afternoon.

Romeo hoped that more exchange programmes would be carried out through the MoU to strengthen the collaborat­ion between the two cities.

“We hope that through the MoU, both parties can learn from each other through various programmes and activities which will be organised later,” he said.

La Trinidad is the capital of Benguet with a population of 130,000 and a centre of strawberry farming.

Yii during the meeting said Miri is honoured to be selected as the pioneer for the state’s Smart City initiative. Among them was the implementa­tion of smart parking system that uses smartphone applicatio­n which was launched on Wednesday.

The MoU between the two city councils will take place at a leading hotel here at 3pm today. It is expected to be witnessed by the Minister of Local Government and Housing, Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

SIBU: The management of Wisma Sanyan will extend its business hours from tomorrow (Jan 18) until Jan 24 in conjunctio­n with the Chinese New Year Celebratio­n.

In a press statement received here yesterday, Pelita Towerview Sdn Bhd said they had decided to extend the business hours to 11pm daily during the period.

The management wishes everyone a Happy Chinese New Year.

Members of the public are invited to come and feel the festive mood at the premises and enjoy the extended shopping hours during this period.
