Work on sports centre ahead of schedule

- Philip Wong

SIBU: Piling works for the Azman Hashim Community Sports Centre in Sibu Jaya have been completed, less than two months after the ground-breaking ceremony, says Amcorp’s director Mohamed Fadzil Abdul Hamid.

He said the construction work went full speed right after the ground-breaking ceremony conducted by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on Nov 23, last year.

“We wasted no time as we want to deliver this gift from Yayasan Azman Hashim to the people of Sibu Jaya as soon as possible,” he said after chairing the monthly project meeting here recently.

He thanked the main contactor – Happiwin Development Sdn Bhd - for their dedication and speed. Almost 10 per cent of the construction works have been completed.

“We are actually ahead of schedule and that is a very good start. Everyone involved in the construction couldn’t wait to see the successful completion of the centre.

“Our main builder, Happiwin Development, is dedicated to the task. Our suppliers are committed to their roles and our own team of Amcorp officials are devoted to the project,” he added.

The Azman Hashim Community Sports Centre is fully funded by Yayasan Azman Hashim, and is estimated to cost around RM14 million. It is scheduled for completion by Aug 2021.
