Di Wannie’s premium kek lapis offers tourists an authentic taste of Sarawak

KUCHING: Di Wannie Cake House is offering premium original Sarawak ‘kek lapis’ (layer cake) in conjunctio­n with Visit Malaysia 2020.

Owner Mahathir Bujang is encouragin­g all tourists coming to Kuching to purchase the traditiona­l Sarawak cake as an unforgetta­ble and delicious souvenir to bring home.

“As this year is Visit Malaysia 2020, we hope tourists will bring back a piece of Kuching in the form of our premium Sarawak kek lapis.

“Our new products this year are pandan cheese and raspberry cheese. At Di Wannie, we use butter and other high quality ingredient­s to make our premium kek lapis, which are all original recipes with their own unique taste,” he said when met at the shop.

With the Chinese New Year celebratio­n just around the corner, Di Wannie Cake House is also making fruitcakes just for the occasion.

Customers shopping for festive treats will be spoilt for choices at Di Wannie, as there are many interestin­g flavours and patterns to choose from.

Some of their hot-selling kek lapis include ‘masam manis’ and ‘sisik ikan’ – both made with haw flakes as a key ingredient; ‘lapis India’ which uses Cadbury chocolate; and ‘prun berempah’ or spiced prunes.

Each kek lapis product comes in a special box with proper labelling, which makes it easy for customers to carry and to bring through Customs, and Di Wannie’s products have safely travelled to Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore.

For the convenienc­e of customers, Di Wannie also offers postal service for its products to other cities within Malaysia.

The shop opens from 8:30am to 6pm, from Monday to Saturday. It will also be open this Sunday (Jan 19) to cater to the festive demand.
