24th Japan Media Arts Festival calls for entries

KUCHING: The 24th Japan Media Arts Festival is calling for entries in four divisions – Art, Entertainm­ent, Animation, and Manga.

All artists around the world, whether profession­al, amateur, independen­t, or commercial, are invited to submit their works.

For the Art division, accepted entries include interactiv­e art, media installati­ons, video works, video installati­ons, graphic art, and Internet art.

Accepted works for the Entertainm­ent division are video or online games, video or sound works, multimedia production­s, websites, and applicatio­ns.

As for the Animation division, accepted works are animated feature films, animated short films, animated TV series, and videos for streaming.

In the Manga division, accepted entries are comics published in book form, comics published in a magazine, comics published for computer or mobile devices, and self- published comics.

Materials and informatio­n to be submitted vary depending on the division and the screening category of the work.

Eligible works are those completed or exhibited between Oct 5, 2019 and Sept 4 this year.

From each division, the jury committee will select winners of the Grand Prize, Excellence Awards, Social Impact Award, New Face Awards, and U-18 Award on the basis of artistic quality and creativity. Attractive prizes await winners.

The Japan Media Arts Festival is a comprehens­ive festival of Media Arts that honours outstandin­g works from a diverse range of media – from animation and comics to media art and games.

The 23rd festival received 3,566 entries from 107 countries and regions around the world.

Award-winning works are exhibited both within Japan and abroad through various projects and events organised by the government of Japan’s Agency of Cultural Affairs.
