Covid-19: No new positive cases recorded in S’wak for fourth consecutiv­e day

KUCHING: No new Covid-19 positive case was recorded in Sarawak for the fourth consecutiv­e day yesterday, a er the last case was recorded on Sunday.

Sarawak Disaster Management Commi ee (SDMC) secretaria­t in a statement said the cumulative tally of positive cases in the state remains at 571.

The death toll from the virus also remains at 17, as no deaths were reported yesterday.

There were no recovery and discharged cases recorded yesterday, which means the number of those who have recovered and discharged stays at 544 or 95.27 per cent of the total cases.

According to the statement, only 10 active cases are still being treated at hospitals but none of them are in Intensive Care Unit ( ICU) - five are at Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching, one at Sibu Hospital and four at Bintulu

Hospital.

The commi ee also recorded 44 new persons-under-investigat­ion (PUI) cases with five of them still awaiting their lab test results, while the rest tested negative for Covid-19.

The commi ee recorded 92 new persons-under-surveillan­ce (PUS) cases yesterday, bringing the cumulative tally to 892 PUS cases quarantine­d in 13 hotels across the state.

Kuching has 271 PUS cases, Miri (332), Bintulu (118), Limbang (32) and Sibu (139).

Three districts – Kuching, Bintulu and Sibu – are classified as yellow zones while 37 other districts are classified green zones.

The commi ee also reported that 1,221 vehicles were checked yesterday, through six road blocks under ‘Ops Benteng’ to prevent foreigners from sneaking into Malaysia.
