Fatimah: Ministry satisfied with SOP compliance by kindies on reopening
KUCHING: The compliance shown by kindergarten operators towards the standard operating procedures ( SOPS) issued for the resumption of operation has been satisfactory, said Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.
She said she was pleased to learn that children who returned to kindergartens on Wednesday had no problems complying with the SOP.
“We at the ministry understand that some parents are worried their children are not able to obey the SOPs.
“However, based on our observations yesterday (Wednesday), we found that even children are not facing any difficulties in obeying the required procedures,” she told reporters here yesterday after presenting financial aid to victims of a house fire.
The handing-over ceremony was held at the operations centre of Kampung Semerah Padi Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK), and was also attended by Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
Fatimah also reminded all kindergarten operators to continue to strictly observe the SOP even though the number of new Covid-19 cases in the state and the country has been drastically reduced.
Meanwhile, statistics provided by the ministry showed that 2,385 out of 2,865 kindergartens throughout the state had resumed operations on Wednesday.
The rest, comprising 461 Kemas kindergartens and 19 private kindergartens, are expected to reopen starting July 15 and July 20, respectively.
The 2,865 kindergartens serve a total of 78,255 children, according to the statistics.
