CHMS No. 1, 3 and 4 fully prepared to welcome back students – Wee
KUCHING: Kuching Chung Hua Middle School (CHMS) No. 1, 3 and 4 are ready to welcome students back starting July 15, with the necessary preparations already made, said Board of Management Committee chairman Dato Richard Wee.
He said the three schools had complied with all standard operating procedures ( SOP) and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education since reopening for Senior Middle Two and Three classes on June 24.
“We have our SOP booklets printed for all students and parents and all the amenities such as thermal detection equipment, portable infrared thermometer, sanitisers, masks and additional wash basins are ready,” he said when contacted yesterday.
He was commenting on Wednesday’s announcement by Education Minister Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin that students in Form 1 to Form 4 and Remove Class, as well as pupils in Primary 5 and Primary 6 would return to school starting July 15, while Primary 1 to Primary 4 pupils would return on July 22.
Wee said school board meetings had been held with the respective CHMS principals on their preparation to welcome back all students, adding he was satisfied with the arrangements proposed by the schools to cope with the new norm.
He said the main challenge faced by most of the schools was related to the compliance of social distancing and the number of students allowed in each class.
“We have to rearrange all the classrooms and make full use of all the space to accommodate the students as per the Ministry of Education’s guidelines.
“We are also making the necessary changes on the timetable for all the different classes following the options issued by Ministry of Education,” he said.
