Repok rep commends teachers for ingenuity in running e-classes during MCO period

-

SARIKEI: The teachers here are lauded on their ability and also creativity in conducting the lessons in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) during the earlier Movement Control Order (RMCO).

In praising them, Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii acknowledged the challenges that both the teachers and the students faced in undergoing the teachinglearning process during the strict restriction period, where schools and other institutions of learning were closed.

“I’m glad to see that although the MCO had prevented teachers from conducting normal teaching-learning sessions, they still came prepared by applying digital learning as an alternative platform.

“I understand that many teachers had used online applications such as Google Classroom, cikgooTube, Google Meet and Zoom, to enable their students to learn from home.

“The usage of online applications also highlighted the importance of digital technology that the state government had considered as a way forward to transform its economy.

“Additionally, I must also commend the parents for their cooperation in facilitating online learning for their children at home,” said Huang in his speech for district-level Teacher’s Day 2020 celebration here yesterday.

Moreover, the assemblyman said coming from a poor family, he always considered education as a key means that could change lives for the better.

“This is why since my election as the assemblyman for Repok, I have always accorded special attention to the education of children in my constituency.

“I would always support any programme run by schools in Repok; those who need my assistance, please let me know,” he stressed.

Adding on, Huang also took the opportunity from the event to congratulate the teachers who had been selected as recipient of the ‘Excellent Service Awards’ (APC) in conjunction with this year’s district-level Teacher’s Day.

Meanwhile in his remarks, Sarikei District Education officer Lau Ngie Tung also commended the teachers for their commitment, dedication, capability and versatility that had enabled them to conduct lessons under ‘new normal’ environment during the MCO period.

At a ceremony, retired teacher Sapiah Morshidi was given the ‘Sarikei District Exemplary Teacher Award, while Wong Hing received the ‘Sarikei District Exemplary Education Leadership Award’.
