MIRI: Curtin University has been ranked 17th in QS Top 50 Under 50 for 2021, up four places from last year.

The rankings recently released by QS World University Rankings 2021 recognises the world’s best universities under 50 years and Curtin University placed fourth nationally in Australia again.

Curtin University vicechancellor Professor Deborah Terry said she was delighted that Perth-based Curtin University with campuses in Malaysia, Dubai, Singapore and Mauritius continued to be named among the top young institutions in the global higher education sector, largely due to its commitment to research and strong international outlook.

“To be recognised as 17th in the Top 50 under 50 is an outstanding achievement and testament to the incredibly hard work of our staff and students,” said Terry.

This sentiment was echoed by pro vice-chancellor, president and chief executive Professor Simon Leunig of Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia), its largest international campus here.

“We are always proud to see Curtin continue its upward trajectory in the major global university rankings. Just recently, Curtin climbed 13 places to 217th in the world in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2020/21, and it continues to be ranked among the top one per cent of universities worldwide in the highly-acclaimed Academic Ranking of World Universities.

“As Curtin’s international campuses in Malaysia, Dubai, Singapore and Mauritius are well integrated components of its global network offering undifferentiated courses and learning experiences to students from around the world, as well as research that impact local communities, these rankings also reflect the prowess and achievements of its international campuses,” said Leunig.

Curtin University has also been recognised in Times

Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2020 at 34th in the world, up 21 places from last year. This placed Curtin eighth in Australia.

THE Young University Rankings are based on the same 13 performance indicators as Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
