-

MIRI: SMK Taman Tunku here has recorded improved results for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) last year with 86.19 per cent pass and grade point average (GPS) of 5.04, says its principal Tang Cheng Mun

“This is almost on par with other outstanding schools here such as SMK Riam, SMK Lopeng Tengah, SMK Lutong and others,” she pointed out in her address at the school's Incentives and

Awards Presentation yesterday with Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat as guest of honour.

Tang disclosed that the school also recorded two straight As students, namely Annatasha Chemeng and Ernie Francis, after a number of years without any.

She added that 15 out of 17 subjects achieved Subject Average Grade (GPMP) and passing percentage.

“In fact, Moral, Science,

Geography, Visual Art Education, Add Maths, Invention and Computer Science achieved better than the national GPMP record.”

Meanwhile, 18 students received awards and incentives for excellent results in last year’s SPM examination.

“I hope all of you will continue to strive to do your best to succeed in life and for a brighter future,” said Ripin.

He also advised students sitting for their SPM early next year to do their best for themselves and also for the school besides praising teachers for their dedication and commitment.

Ripin pledged RM20,000 to the school's academic achievement programmes for this year. Tang thanked Ripin for the pledge as well as another RM600,000 for the construction of Sri Tunku Hall last year.
