SDMC orders closure of all entertainment, reflexology centres in Sarawak until further notice
KUCHING: All entertainment outlets and reflexology centres in Sarawak have been ordered to be closed starting today, and would remain so until further notice.
The entertainment outlets include all night clubs, pubs and establishments running karaoke sessions.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the State Disaster Management Committee ( SDMC) had made this decision after assessing the cases that had occurred in areas exhibiting high-risk for Covid-19 infections, as well as places that were difficult to be monitored for compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOP)
He pointed out that following the detection of a positive case involving a Chinese national on Oct 23, the Active Case Detection (ACD) had been undertaken.
“On the night of Oct 25, Sarawak Health Department, in collaboration with the agencies under SDMC, conducted ACD on 101 areas in Kuching.
“A total of 271 individuals had been screened during the activity.
“The results for the screening in these 101 areas were 270 negative for Covid-1, and one positive,” he said in a press conference on Covid-19 updates yesterday.
Uggah, who is also SDMC chairman, said on Oct 26, the ACD was conducted over Galacity Business Centre here.
“A total of 312 individuals were screened through Covid19 rT-PCR test. As at noon today (yesterday), all individuals screened are still awaiting laboratory results,” he said.
The ACD operation involved 110 healthcare workers and frontline personnel.
