Hajiji takes oath as assemblyma­n

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor took his oath of office as Sulaman assemblyma­n before the Sabah State Assembly Speaker Datuk Kadzim M Yahya here yesterday.

The swearing-in ceremony for Hajiji was held yesterday because he could not join other newlyelect­ed Sabah assemblyme­n in taking their oath of office on Oct 9 as he was under a two-week quarantine at home after being in close contact with a Covid-19 patient.

Also taking their oath yesterday were Sulabayan assemblyma­n Datuk Jaujan

Sambakong and two nominated assemblyme­n – Datuk Yong Teck Lee and Datuk Amisah Yassin.

Bugaya assemblyma­n Manis Buka Mohd Darah, however, could not be sworn in yesterday as she was still under quarantine at the hospital.

At the ceremony on Oct 9, a total of 70 elected assemblyme­n and four nominated assemblyme­n took their oath of office.

The Sabah State Assembly has 73 assemblyme­n who were elected in the state election on Sept 26 and six nominated members. — Bernama
