Patriots association lauds SDMC’s handling of Covid-19 pandemic in state
KUCHING: The Sarawak Patriots Association ( SPA) commended the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) for its handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state.
“Certain quarters criticised the handling of the issue involving the patients’ occupation and location history in the daily statements of the SDMC.
“However, instead of criticising the SDMC, we should all remain united to curb the pandemic,” said the association’s secretary David Hii.
Hii believed the disclosure of the information to the public was for the greater good so the people would know the area where the person was infected.
“All the more reason why we should all adhere strictly to the standard operating procedures ( SOPs) which are meant for our own good in preventing the spread and minimizing the impact of Covid-19.”
Having said that Hii stressed it was important to address the social stigma implication on Covid- 19 patients and all parties have a role to protect the physical and mental health of one another during this pandemic.
“The effects have greatly impacted the patients. We must all remember that nobody wants to be infected with the virus and nobody wants to spread the virus.
“There should be no finger pointing , we are all in this together,” said Hii.
