Newly-launched Proton X50 arrives in Miri

MIRI: National car maker Proton has unveiled the muchantici­pated Proton X50, which has come a er the release of the locally-assembled Proton X70 in February this year.

The new X50 is now on display at the Kereta Mewah Sdn Bhd showroom in Lutong here.

Like its sibling the X70, the X50 is also locally-assembled but it exudes both elegance and sportiness, with class-leading technical features in terms of performanc­e, handling and outlook.

Its distinct grille as well as the sporty front bumper, headlights and bonnet, the X50 meets the latest styling of a modern sportsutil­ity vehicle (SUV).

The response to the X50 has been ‘overwhelmi­ngly good’, says Kereta Mewah managing director Tan Kim Hoon, adding that to date, the distributo­r has received 120 bookings, mainly from the customers.

There are four variants, namely the 1.5T Standard, the 1.5T Executive, the 1.5T Premium, and the 1.5 TGDi Flagship – each powered by the 1.5-litre turbocharg­ed three-cylinder engine. The standard features of the X50 include seven-speed dual-clutch transmissi­on, LED headlamps, automatic airconditi­oning with second-row vents, an option of eight-inch or 10-inch touchscree­n ‘infotainme­nt’ unit, fabric or leather seat upholstery (depending on variants), reverse camera and driver power-seat.

In terms of safety, the X50 has received a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating – the model comes with six airbags, except for the 1.5T Standard variant, which comes with four airbags, as well as comprehens­ive automated-brake system. The Proton X50 comes in six colours – Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey, Ocean Blue, Citric Orange and Passion Red.
