BTS’ 2014 album lands on Billboard main albums chart

-

SEOUL: A 2014 EP album by Kpop megastar BTS has made a surprise debut on the Billboard main chart, Yonhap news agency reported yesterday.

“BTS’ ‘Skool Luv Affair’ debuts at No. 12 on this week’s Billboard 200. It’s the group’s 12th career entry on the chart,” the US music publisher said in a Twitter post updated Monday.

“Skool Luv Affair,” the septet’s second EP released in February 2014, was recently republished and released after it won a fan vote on albums and DVDs that should be released again.

The feat is the latest in BTS’ chart-breaking milestones.

After dominating the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time as a Kpop

act with its single ‘Dynamite,’ BTS have remained in the top 10 for nine weeks.

The track has also stayed No. 1 on the digital song sales chart for nine straight weeks.

BTS are set to release its new album ‘BE’ on Nov 20.

Meanwhile, BTS have been nominated for this year’s American Music Awards (AMAs) for a third consecutive year, the band’s agency said yesterday.

The band was nominated in two categories — ‘ Favorite Duo or Group — Pop/Rock’ and ‘Favorite Social Artist’ -- in the ceremony scheduled for Nov 22.

Other nominees in the ‘Favorite Duo or Group — Pop/ Rock’ category were the Jonas

Brothers and Maroon 5. Four other musicians were nominated for the ‘ Favorite Social Artist’ category, including K-pop acts EXO and NCT 127.

BTS previously won the ‘Favorite Social Artist’ award in 2018, becoming the first Korean artists to win an award at the AMAs.

In 2019, they picked up awards in three categories: ‘Favorite Social Artist,’ ‘ Favorite Duo or Group — Pop/Rock’ and ‘Tour of the Year.’

BTS are considered a trailblazer in the history of K-pop, winning major music awards and becoming the first South Korean musician to top the Billboard Hot 100.
