SEDC Sarawak to continue support enterpreneurs at its various premises

KUCHING: Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) through its subsidiaries, will continue to support local entrepreneurs operating at its various business premises as part of the commitment towards their recovery efforts after the Covid19 pandemic.

This was mentioned by SEDC general manager Abdul Hadi Datuk Abdul Kadir who said the agency is also closely monitoring those under its entrepreneurship development programmes in coping with the impacts of the recent Covid-19 pandemic.

According to him, there are places such as at Damai Central where business is picking up especially during weekends, with city folks patronising the seaside recreation centre together with families and friends.

“Damai Central is now abuzz with a lot of visitors during the weekends and Syukur Alhamdullilah this is good for our vendors who are operating the various food and drinks stalls available at the food court,” Abdul Hadi said in a statement yesterday.

“Thus, we will continue to support our vendors apart from maintaining the facilities there to ensure the visitors will have the convenience of basic amenities while enjoying their time there,” he said on SEDC’s commitment to ensure the upkeep of the amenities at Damai Central.

According to him, SEDC through its Tourism and Hospitality Division (THD) and Sarawak Culture Village (SCV) will be organising more engagements with food court stalls operators and vendors at Damai Central as part of the continuous efforts to communicate actively with their stakeholders there.

“Recently we had organised a discussion with them ( food stall operators) to address their low water supply woes which have been rectified accordingly and the situation will be further improved for the benefit of the general public.”

He added the water supply disruption at Damai Central was due to the rupture of the private pipe line running to the venue and among the temporary rectification measure undertaken by SCV was to cater the immediate needs of clean water supply by the vendors there.

“Over the past few months there have been cases of low water supply experienced by our vendors but the situation had be rectified accordingly before the long term solution is be implemented. Very soon our vendors will be able to use direct water supply at their respective sinks because we will be replacing the old pipes and such works can be completed with the next two weeks,” Abdul Hadi said on the proposed water supply rectification works which will be undertaken at Damai Central soon.
