MIRI: Miri Division recorded 154 Covid-19 positive cases yesterday; 145 in Miri District, 5 in Beluru and three in Subis districts, revealed Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC).

The committee’s minister incharge Datuk Lee Kim Shin, in a press statement, said that 153 cases were close contacts of those under quarantine at quarantine centres or at home.

“The divisional health office has the whole of this (last) week been actively conducting close contact tracings and active case detection. Also, a total 6, 878 swabs tests have also been conducted.

“MDDMC is viewing the situation very closely and will report to state disaster management committee (SMDC) daily. Any further measures that shall be decide by the latter, will be implement accordingly to put the pandemic situation under control,” said Lee in a statement yesterday.

Meanwhile, the committee advised everyone with symptoms to seek treatment at the nearest clinics as soon as possible while those in contacts with positive cases to undergo swab test on the time and date fixed by the divisional health office.

It also urged everyone to give their full cooperation in this difficult and challenging time to fight the pandemic.

“The battle can only be won with the unity, close cooperation and support of the people.

“We have been able to control Telang Usan District, which has now returned to green zone with zero cases in the past 14 days.

“Out frontliners have been working very hard and tirelessly to help those affected by Covid19. Many walked the extra mile, by working overtime to compile the swab results and also sacrifice their holidays and time with their families.

“Therefore, please stay at home. The virus doesn’t move, but people move it. It stops when we stop moving, then it dies. It’s that simple,” Lee said.
