PBDSB urges state govt to expedite vaccination programme
KUCHING: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDS) is urging the state government to expedite the Covid-19 vaccination programme in the state.
Its president Bobby William said the Sarawak government was seemingly very slow in carrying out the vaccination in Sarawakians, especially in the rural areas where most positive cases are found.
He believed many Sarawakians have also questioned whether the state government was really serious in pushing for the vaccination programme.
“Minister of Housing and Local Government Dato Sri Dr Sim Khui Hian always complained that the Covid19 registration exercise had received poor response from Sarawakians.
“The truth is that many who have registered for the programme have not even been called to be vaccinated.”
Bobby said unlike in urban areas where people have easy access to the internet, people in the rural and remote areas are unable to register through MySejahtera.
Under such circumstances, he wondered if the state government had done anything to help the rural folk to register for the vaccination programme.
He believed that the ‘no internet coverage’ was among reasons why there are still many Sarawakians who haven’t registered themselves for the vaccination programme.
Bobby said the state government should find alternatives to get the rural people to register, instead of prolonging the situation.
“How long will Sarawakians, especially the ordinary rural folk, have to endure this situation when they could only hold on to political promises which never end?”
Bobby believed that many Sarawakians and Malaysians as a whole feel that political manipulation was leveraging over the Covid-19 cases in the country.
