MPP assessment rate payment counters remain open this weekend

KUCHING: The due date for payment of 2021 assessment rate under Padawan Municipal Council’s (MPP) jurisdicti­on is this Sunday (Oct 31).

In a statement, MPP said payment counters at the council are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 3.30pm including lunch hour.

The counters will remain open this Saturday 8am to 3.30pm and Sunday 8am to 1pm for the convenienc­e of ratepayers.

“The Sarawak government has exempted surcharge for late payment for the first half of 2021 assessment which was due on 31 May 2021,” it said, adding that ratepayers may make payment without surcharge up to Oct 31.

A surcharge of 1 per cent per month or part thereof will be levied for payment after Oct 31.

Discounts in assessment rates for residentia­l properties are 100 per cent for annual assessment rate of less than or equal to RM50; 90 per cent discount for rates between RM50.01 and RM100; 80 per cent discount for RM100.01 to RM150; 70 per cent discount for RM150.01 to RM200; 60 per cent discount for RM200.01 and RM250; 50 per cent discount for RM250.01 to RM300; 40 per cent discount for RM300.01 to RM350; 30 per cent discount for RM350.01 to RM400; and 25 per cent discount for RM400.01 and above.

There is also 25 per cent discount on assessment rates for commercial, industrial and special purpose properties.

Payment may also be made at Service Sarawak Counters (UTC in Kuching, Sibu and Miri), Kuching North City Commission, Kuching South City Council, Sesco, Kuching Water Board, Pos Malaysia Bhd and H&L Supermarke­t Outlets.

Alternativ­ely, pay online at https://www.paybills.sarawak.gov.my or via S Pay Global (formerly known as Sarawak Pay).

Ratepayers who have yet to receive 2021 assessment rate bills or misplaced their bills are requested to contact or drop by MPP at Kota Padawan.
