Mother of two gets basic food aid, milk powder from Hope Place

-

KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching is reaching out to a 30-year-old mother of two who lost her husband last year by providing her with basic food aid and baby milk powder.

According to a statement, Nurul Makminah Hamlen suffered a tragic loss when her husband died from a brain infection last year.

“With a disabled six-year-old child and a one-year-old baby, Nurul desperately sought Hope Place for help.

“Nurul is now staying with her children and her foster mother at Kampung Buntal. In the past, Nurul depended on her husband, who was a gardener, as the family’s sole breadwinner.

“But a er his death, Nurul and her foster mother Seleha, 65, were forced to find ways to earn for the family,” said Hope Place.

Hope Place was made to understand that Seleha, before the break of dawn, has to go to the beach to collect shellfish and sell whatever catches she gathered to seafood restaurants in Buntal.

Nurul, meanwhile, has to stay at home to take care of her children.

“This does not mean she is idle. Nurul is currently helping her friend to sell hand-made soaps online. Though not technology savvy, Nurul tries her very best to learn as she goes along,” it added.

Hope Place is providing the family with basic food aid and baby milk powder for the infant.

“Nurul’s son, who has ADHD (a ention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is also ge ing RM150 from the Welfare Department and is also a ending Community-based Rehabilitation Centre (PDK).”

All donations to Hope Place are welcomed and receipts will be given upon request.
