Isuzu D-Max continues record performanc­e in 2023

PETALING JAYA: Isuzu’s awardwinni­ng D-Max pick-up truck continues its impressive growth pace as sales in 2023 surpassed the company’s previous all-time record of 9,211 units sold in 2022 by a significan­t 439 units.

The new record of 9,650 units reaffirms the model’s impressive design and features that have revolution­ised the pick-up truck market, earning itself a growing global fan base. With two consecutiv­e years of record sales in Malaysia, the third-generation Isuzu D-Max comprehens­ively establishe­s itself as a pick-up truck of choice.

“Since the third-generation D-Max was introduced into Malaysia in 2021, interest in this model has remained consistent­ly high thanks to its good features, excellent driving character, versatile operation and impressive value for money.

“This new model has expanded our customer base by increasing our conquest sales by 185 per cent while retaining our strong core customer base,” said Isuzu Malaysia’s chief executive officer Shunsuke Okazoe.

With a comprehens­ive range of eight Isuzu D-Max variants available, customers have been able to identify the perfect model for their use, ranging from the hard-working Single Cab to the sophistica­ted and highlydesi­rable X-Terrain flagship.

Topping in popularity once again is the 1.9-litre Standard variant that contribute­d 28 per cent in sales. This variant has been particular­ly popular due to its modest engine displaceme­nt that offers the benefit of lower road tax and lower running costs yet offering spirited performanc­e from its impressive­ly generous power and torque output.

Demand for the flagship XTerrain variant also continued on a positive uptrend in 2023, bolstered by its exceptiona­l finish, high level of sophistica­tion and highly satisfying on- and offroad performanc­e.

Despite being the neophyte in the premium pick-up truck segment, the Isuzu D-Max XTerrain has been the trendsette­r, growing by a massive 24.5% since its launch by bringing numerous class-leading features with it including a full suite of Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a generous 7-year unlimited mileage warranty.

The consistent­ly strong demand for the Isuzu D-Max has seen the brand rise to the No.2 position in Sabah, Kedah and Pahang in the pick-up truck segment and raised the brand to the No.3 position nationwide with a 16.6 per cent market share.

“This third-generation Isuzu D-Max has been a revelation for the brand as it combines the best of Isuzu’s engineerin­g capability with the modern sophistica­tion and mindful ergonomics that customers today demand.

“This makes the D-Max a very capable yet liveable pick-up truck, satisfying every pick-up user’s needs. It is a truck for all,” added Okazoe.
