AJIB 99, AJIB CRF launched to improve crop yield potential
Abundant General Trading Co here has introduced the latest addition to the agricultural commodity – the AJIB 99 and AJIB controlledrelease fertilisers (CRF) – to the local market.
According to the company’s owner Yong Ngie Hing, the products were the results of the research and scientific studies by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
“These two types of fertilisers are capable of improving plant growth, prevent plant diseases and increase higher yields, thus more income for farmers,” he said.
“AJIB 99, a specially formulated fertiliser that contains enzyme activators and selected micronutrients, can increase palm oil’s resistance to basal stem rot (BSR) disease caused by the Ganoderma fungus.
“This disease can yield losses by reducing the number of bunches, and in severe cases, the death of the tree itself,” he added.
By applying AJIB 99, Yong said this could enhance the formation of the tree’s Lignin, resulting in thicker walls of root epidermal cell.
“Thicker cell walls with lignin deposition provide mechanical resistance, preventing the fungi from penetrating into the xylem to absorb nutrients and water,” he said, adding that AJIB 99 is the first in Malaysia to have received the patent certification in reducing Ganoderma disease attacks.
Meanwhile, on AJIB CRF, he said the fertiliser in the form of granules is specially formulated to contain balanced macro and micronutrients.
“This fertiliser also contains enzyme activators to promote the formation of healthy bunches. Besides oil palm plants, this fertiliser is also suitable for fruit trees and also fruiting vegetables such as tomatoes and chillies.”
According to Yong, farmers need not apply AJIB 99 and AJIB CRF regularly, but instead to have their crops fertilised at least twice a year to ensure their good overall health.
This, he added, could also save costs and manpower.
