Premier’s performance at charity gala helps raise over RM180,000
KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg had helped raised over RM180,000 through his performance at the MalaysiaKorea Charity Gala Night last Satuday.
He sang before a large audience during a segment of the event, which took place at Damai Lagoon Resort in Santubong near here.
Among the distinguished guests were Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and his deputy Datuk Sebastian Ting; Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah; former deputy chief minister Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Dr George Chan; Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain; OCIM Sdn Bhd chairman Lee Woohyun; and event co-organisers Puan Sri Datin Amar Nur Ashima Aziz and Dr Kim Sooyeon.
Moreover, Dr Chan’s wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Wira Lorna Enan Muloon Chan and OCIM Sdn Bhd each pledged RM50,000 for the cause.
The Malaysia-Korea Charity Gala Night, a collaborative effort between SEDC through the Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) and OCIM Sdn Bhd, featured a series of performances by representatives of both Sarawak and Korea.
The line-up included Korean singer and actor Kim DaHyun, and Malaysia’s award-winning singing sensation Jaclyn Victor, who delivered her own hit ‘Gemilang’ and a powerful rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘Saving All My Love for You’.
The event’s objective was to raise funds for Yayasan Ilmu Sarawak, a foundation dedicated to knowledge advancements, and the ‘Green Generation’ initiative for a sustainable future.
Additionally, it also meant to support Perkata Sarawak, an organisation focusing on enhancing the care and wellbeing of mentally and physically challenged children and their families.
