MagnumCares’ welfare homes outreach programme turns 40 this year
KUCHING: MagnumCares ushers in the Year of the Dragon with its flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in supporting welfare homes across the country.
The ‘Welfare Homes Outreach Programme’ which enters its 40year milestone this year proves MagnumCares’ commitment to give back to the society - in helping the senior citizens, orphans and people with disabilities.
Over 230 welfare homes nationwide have benefitted from this programme, which has made a positive impact on the lives of the underprivileged.
Over RM770,000 in donations, festive goodies, essential home groceries and ‘ang pows’ had been distributed to these welfare homes.
The programme’s objective was to enhance the living conditions and improve the overall wellbeing of residents in these welfare homes, said Magnum’s executive vice president cum Group chief commercial officer Datuk Chan Chee Fai.
“Through the home enhancement programme, the 3Rs – repairing, refurnishing and replacing works – are carried out to upgrade facilities at the welfare homes.
“These include installing eco-friendly LED lights at the premises, replacing old furniture and appliances, painting and renovating works, decorating green corners, and building or refurbishing therapy and play areas for children with special needs,” he said.
For this year, 34 selected welfare homes with more than 3,000 individuals in Sarawak, he said, have received a special grant totalling RM104,000 from MagnumCares.
“Chinese New Year is a time of hope and new beginnings, and we are delighted that we are able to contribute towards creating a brighter future for all, embodying the MagnumCares’ slogan of ‘For You, With You’ in all our initiatives,” said Chan.
“As we celebrate our welfare homes outreach programme’s 40th anniversary, we invite our customers to join MagnumCares in bringing festive cheer this Chinese New Year via our Project Magnum Hearts initiative.
“By scanning your Magnum 4D tickets on the MyMagnum 4D app, you can accumulate ‘Hearts’ that you can use to support our mission in refurbishing more welfare homes and schools,” he said.
MagnumCares’ dedication to CSR initiatives underscores its commitment in championing the community through its three main pillars – philanthropy; sustainability and environment; and community development.
This welfare homes outreach programme is a testament to MagnumCares’ enduring vision towards fostering a culture of positive change and creating lasting impacts on communities in need.
