MBKS holds dance challenge in fostering unity, creativity until Jan 31

KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is organising ‘ShallWEEDa­nce Challenge 2024’ in celebratio­n of unity, creativity and joy of dance.

According to a press release, the challenge aims to bring people together through the universal language of dance, fostering unity and creativity within the community.

This dance competitio­n is open to individual­s and groups of all ages from Sarawak, with no restrictio­ns on race or gender.

Participan­ts are encouraged to showcase their dance skills by recreating the dance steps and tutorials uploaded on Kuching South Mayor’s official Facebook page.

To register, participan­ts are required to send their personal details (full name, MyKad number, contact number) and the link to their uploaded video through WhatsApp on 0106601919.

For participan­ts under the age of 12, it is necessary to attach their guardian’s details (full name, MyKad number, relationsh­ip, and contact number).

Participan­ts must upload their dance renditions or videos on Facebook, TikTok, or Instagram, along with the hashtags #ShallWEEDa­nce and #Let’s GetTogethe­r. The social media account must be public.

Only submission­s between yesterday and Jan 31 will be accepted.

There will be two judging rounds. The first round will take place on Feb 1 at 11am, and the top 20 videos proceeding to the next round will be announced and published on https:///www.facebook.com/DatoWeeHon­gSeng.

For the second round, which is scheduled for Feb 8 at 11am, the top 20 winners will be announced based on the number of ‘Likes’.

The number of ‘Likes’ that each contestant gets on their social media platforms will be used to determine the competitio­n’s winner.

The videos with the most ‘Likes’ will be eligible to win one of the following prizes: first place (RM1,500), second place (RM1,000), third place (RM600), fourth through eighth place (RM200 each), ninth through fourteenth place (RM100 each), and fifteenth through twentieth place (RM50 each).

This challenge is a testament to MBKS’ commitment to fostering creativity, unity, and community spirit. Join the council in spreading the joy of dance and creating unforgetta­ble moments together.

The registrati­on period commenced yesterday and will end on Jan 31.
