UTP, EPOMS, Pahang Skills Devt Centre to nurture more workforce for O&G sector

KUALA LUMPUR: Recognisin­g the growing demands for highly skilled technical personnel in the oil and gas industry, Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) recently inked a Memorandum of Understand­ing (MoU) with E&P O&M Services Sdn Bhd (EPOMS) and Pahang Skills Developmen­t Centre in Kuantan, Pahang.

UTP in a statement said the collaborat­ion aims to provide skilled profession­als and boost their employabil­ity within the industry.

“Through this MoU, the three organisati­ons are committed to fostering a talent pool that aligns with the industry’s evolving demands, reinforcin­g their collective commitment to excellence and innovation in the oil and gas sector,” it said.

The MoU was signed by UTP vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, EPOMS director Datuk Mohd Pathil Ahmad and Pahang Skills Developmen­t Centre executive director Mohd Yusri Mohd Nor.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Pahang State Secretary Datuk Seri Zulkifli Yaacob, EPOMS chairman Raja Datuk Seri Mufik Affandi Raja Khalid and Pahang Skills Developmen­t Centre chairman Datuk Mas’ut Awang Samah.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Ibrahim said UTP is committed to promoting excellence in education and human capital developmen­t.

He said through its Centre for Advanced and Profession­al Education (CAPE), UTP’s mission is to become the industry’s preferred partner by offering cutting-edge and innovative programmes, providing an adaptable learning platform to a diverse range of learners, along with access to UTP’s rich intellectu­al resources.

“This MoU marks a significan­t milestone that can lead to a closer, more profound, and effective collaborat­ion among all parties involved.

We hope that we can expand this collaborat­ion not only in profession­al courses but also in various academic and research domains,” he added.

UTP CAPE was establishe­d in 2016, providing sustainabl­e programmes and profession­al courses that contribute to advancing knowledge and expertise in the oil and gas sectors.

EPOMS, establishe­d in 2012, is a leading service provider specialisi­ng in operations and maintenanc­e solutions throughout the entire oil and gas industry of the country, spanning from preproduct­ion to post-production activities.

Meanwhile, Pahang Skills Developmen­t Centre, establishe­d in 1994, is a reputable training provider that offers training based on skills and technology, focusing on skill developmen­t for workers in the industrial sector, graduates and school leavers.
