DPM: Aaron, Ewon proposed as Sarawak, Sabah respective representatives in MA63 action council

-

KUCHING: A proposal has been drafted to include National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang as the Sarawakian representative in the Action Council for the Implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MTP-MA63).

Additionally, Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick is also suggested as the representative for Sabah in the council.

This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof when asked about the update on MTP-MA63.

It is informed that a reshuffle was made after Papar MP Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, previously the minister in charge of Sabah and Sarawak affairs, was appointed as the federal Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living last December.

“However, this is still in the proposal stage and will be brought to Cabinet (for deliberation),” Fadillah, now the minister in charge of Sabah and Sarawak affairs, told reporters when met at a Chinese New Year 2024 event at SUPP Hall in Sungai Tengah, Matang area here yesterday.

Adding on, he expressed hope that the reshuffle of the MTPMA63 would conclude within this month.

“Even though I am from Sarawak, I still need a representative from the state on the technical committee,” he pointed out, while stating that in the event of his unavailability to address queries related to MA63 in Parliament, Aaron would be at hand to represent Sarawak.

Fadillah also said under the MTP-MA63’s reshuffle, a working committee would be formed to replace the coordination committee.

“If the issues could not be resolved at that level (working committee), it would be brought to the technical committee and ultimately, to the MTP-MA63,” he said.

Earlier, Fadillah and his wife Datin Seri Ruziah Mohd Tahir presented ‘angpows’ (cash packets) and other contributions to senior citizens and individuals with disabilities who attended the event.

Also present was Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
