IBS College holds 21st graduation ceremony

MIRI: The IBS College yesterday held its 21st graduation ceremony, celebratin­g the accomplish­ments of another cohort of 71 students.

Taking place at Mega Hotel here, the event commenced with an address from the principal and chief executive officer of IBS College, Dr Antony Hii, who highlighte­d not only the significan­ce of reaching the 21st milestone, but also the 23rd anniversar­y of the college.

“Today we stand together, reflecting the incredible journey that has brought us to this moment.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the parents and students who have placed their trust in the education system of IBS College, making it a cornerston­e of our success in student recruitmen­t,” he said.

Hii also took pride in IBS College’s yearly graduate’s employment rate at above 95 per cent, attesting to the industrial relevance of skills imparted at the institutio­n.

“IBS College recently establishe­d a partnershi­p with Great Eastern Insurance to offer an Entreprene­urship Developmen­t Programme for its graduates. This initiative aims to provide long termsuppor­t and guidance to empower its graduates in their entreprene­urial pursuits.

“Financial aid is also a cornerston­e of the college’s commitment to accessible education. Over the past 23 years, IBS College has awarded scholarshi­ps and sponsorshi­ps totalling approximat­ely RM350,000 annually, enabling deserving students to pursue higher education.”

Hii also said over the past two decades, the college had been actively involved in numerous community developmen­t projects such as training of teachers in schools, training and coaching workshops for students, as well as delivering motivation­al talks to students.

Meanwhile, the event’s guestof-honour Deputy Minister I for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak Datuk Sebastian Ting called upon the graduates to always keep abreast of the latest technologi­cal developmen­ts, especially in the field of artificial intelligen­ce (AI).

The highlight of the ceremony was when Jong Chee Leong, a Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Corporate Master of Business Administra­tion graduate was presented with the ‘Distinguis­hed Academic Achiever Award’.
