PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Territories Department yesterday earned a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the ‘Longest Vehicle Formation @50WP’ with the involvement of 644 vehicles arranged along 3.35km.

Putrajaya Corporation president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud said that the event was held in conjunction with the Federal Territories Day, involving private vehicles, association vehicles and government vehicles, including motorcycles, sedans, supercars and motorhomes.

“The vehicles involved were flying the Federal Territories’ flags as a sense of pride, in addition to expressing their love and affection for the Federal Territories,” he said when met yesterday at the four-day Putrajaya Open Day here, which began Feb 1.

Earlier, Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa received the MBOR recognition certificate from MBOR officer Siti Hajar Johor.

Meanwhile, Fadlun said that the number of visitors to the open day reached 200,000, exceeding the initial target of 50,000.

“A very encouraging response, especially from those who want to try the Automated Rail Transit (ART) which we are introducing in the Federal Territory of Putrajaya,” he said.

He said the close cooperation between government agencies, private sector and the community in achieving the mission of creating records at the national level symbolised success and excellence.

Apart from that, it also fosters a sense of belonging among the people of the Federal Territories and beyond, he added.

Federal Territories Day is celebrated on Feb 1 annually to commemorate the declaration of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan as Federal Territories.
