-

Former Sarawak governor Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is currently undergoing medical treatment at home with assistance of nurses and doctors from a private hospital, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg confirmed yesterday.

“I have not met him but I believe that he is still undergoing treatment with assistance of nurses and doctors from Normah (Medical Specialist Centre).

“His condition is okay, but he is sick,” he told reporters when met a er officiating at the Hari Perkhidmatan Awam celebration at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.

Abang Johari assured that Taib’s condition is “satisfactory” as per the available information.

“I have not yet received a report (on his current health status). You have to ask the doctor,” he added.

Earlier yesterday, police confirmed that Taib is at Demak Jaya, his private residence in Petra Jaya here.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata told reporters this during the launch of this year’s Chinese New Year Ops Selamat at the Sarawak police contingent headquarters here.

“At the moment, he is still in his own home,” said Mancha.

The confirmation follows police reports filed against Taib’s wife Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib for taking him from a private hospital here, allegedly against medical advice, last Saturday night.

Mancha also revealed that police have received a total of eight police reports against Raghad as of Tuesday, but did not name those who had filed the reports.

He also refused to comment when asked about a group of people who could be seen in front of Taib’s residence around 8pm Tuesday.

“We are still in the process of investigation and we cannot reveal any further information at this juncture,” he said.
