Strong support, unity key roles in development, says Senadin rep

-

The people’s strong support is vital and will ensure the continuity of developments in the Senadin constituency, says its assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin.

Lee, who is also state Minister of Transport, said the constituency has transformed into a satellite town, unlike what it used to be in the past.

“This area was once a forest area, but has been changed into a satellite city with the provision of basic facilities such as road access, electricity, and piped-gas supply,” he said, while extending his appreciation for the constituents’ support and trust given to him.

“This is the progress that has been achieved through your strong support,” said Lee in his address at SK Tudan Jaya’s unity programme cum appreciation ceremony here yesterday.

Touching on the objective of the programme, he called for everyone to preserve the harmonious way of living with others of different races and religions.

Sarawak’s exemplary harmonious society, he said, has not only been acknowledged by the country, but also in the global level.

“Even tourists like to come to Sarawak because they enjoy the culture and the big festivals that are celebrated in Sarawak throughout the year.

Festivals such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Gawai Dayak, and Christmas, among others are celebrated by everyone here, irrespective of their race and religion, he added.

“This has become our tradition, hence, ought to be passed on to the younger generations,” he stressed.

At the same event, Lee announced a minor rural project (MRP) grant of RM10,000 for SK Tudan Jaya and an additional RM15,000 grant for its ParentTeacher Association (PTA).

Present at the event were SK Tudan Jaya headmistress Suriyati Amit; senior administrative assistant Siti Aisah Abdullah; and PTA president Fabian William Story.
