Yii presents MRP grants to 21 organisati­ons

Twenty-one organisati­ons and associatio­ns here have received minor rural project (MRP) grants totalling RM61,000 from Pujut assemblyma­n Adam Yii.

The MRP cheques were presented to the recipients at a simple ceremony held at the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Pujut service centre here, yesterday.

Yii, in his brief remarks, reminded the recipients to utilise the grants given to benefit its members, as well as the community surroundin­g them.

“I know most of the associatio­ns and organisati­ons here are doing a great work through their charitable activities and environmen­tal initiative­s, and therefore, we would want all these activities to be continued for good,” said Yii, who is also Miri mayor.

“As the people’s representa­tive for Pujut (constituen­cy), I am more than happy to work with all of you here to make sure that our society prosper and stay united,” he said, while calling for everyone to work together to preserve the unity and harmony in the country.

The MRP grant recipients were Sarawak Miri Division Building and Civil Engineerin­g Contractor­s’ Associatio­n; Kim’s Taekwondo Academy; Ming Hing Ann Associatio­n; Scouts Associatio­n of Malaysia Miri District; Persatuan Wanita Orang Ulu Miri; Yayasan Taiwan Buddhist Tzu-Chi; Consumers Associatio­n Of Miri; Junior Chamber Internatio­nal Lutong; Borneo Evangelica­l Mission Pujut 2 (Mandarin); Mental Health Associatio­n Miri Branch; and Miri Community Holistic Developmen­t Activator.

Also receiving the grants were SMK Chung Hua Miri Parent-Teacher Associatio­n; Xiang Qi Associatio­n Miri; Miri Tang Soo Do Associatio­n; Foochow Hok Lin Club Miri; Che Lee Khor Moral Uplifting Society; Sunflower Centre; Miri Music Associatio­n; Pertubuhan Muzik Hua Ee Miri; Sarawak Chinese Associatio­n; and Persatuan Peminat Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Tradisiona­l Miri.

The event was also attended by SUPP Pujut Youth chief Kelvin Hii.
