Kota Sentosa rep says committed to assisting Muslim, non-Muslim bodies
KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has pledged his commitment to assist all non-Muslim and Muslim religious bodies under his constituency that are in need of funds for various infrastructure needs.
He said in a statement that the assistance will be rendered through his rural transformation project (RTP) funds and is subjected to them fulfilling the requirements as well.
Yap recently allocated RM100,000 from his RTP funding for 2023 which will go towards the construction of additional car parks at the perimeter fence in front of Faith Methodist Church, Lorong 7 Jalan Hup Kee here.
He also visited the proposed construction site together with officers from Kuching South City Council (MBKS) which serves as the appointed implementing agency.
During the visit, Yap requested that the MBKS officers gather inputs and suggestions from the church’s management committee.
He also urged them to speed up the preparation of the scope of works and bill of quantities so that the benefits from the additional carparks can be enjoyed by the parishioners as soon as possible.
The RTP funding was allocated by Yap after the church management board had earlier requested for his assistance as the existing car parks were insufficient to cater to the congregation of Faith Methodist Church.
He said though the project may be small, it is nevertheless in line with the Sarawak government’s inclusive policy which emphasises the importance of unity in diversity due to the country’s diverse racial and religious backgound.
