Kpg Goebilt Saberkas sports carnival gets good response from youths
KUCHING: The organisers of the Kampung Goebilt Saberkas Sports Carnival have expressed their pleasure in seeing encouraging response from the local youths to the programme.
The event hosted 10 teams in the e-sport competition featuring PUBG Mobile, which was held at Kampung Goebilt multipurpose hall last Sunday.
The organisers believed that the event could become a platform for the village’s youths to highlight their talents and expertise in e-sports.
At the end of the competition, Team 4Fire Power clinched the winning title.
Performing the opening ceremony and presenting the prizes was Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, also Demak Laut assemblyman and chairman of the Demak Laut branch of Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas).
In his speech, he gave assurance to everyone that he had been and would always be supportive to activities like the carnival, which could give exposure and opportunities to those passionate about e-sports.
“This is so they can refrain from being involved in activities that are not beneficial, and avoiding those that are negative.”
Dr Hazland said the organisation of this village-level event could also help promote the development of e-sports at the grassroots level and indirectly, to make it become a more competitive training platform.
“Activities like this carnival can strengthen the bond of friendship among the youths, and this will further facilitate the village’s administrative and development planning,” he added.
Later at the event, Dr Hazland also presented food baskets to 20 individuals registered with the Welfare Department (JKM).
The food basket programme was a joint effort between Demak Laut 4X4 Club and the Demak Laut branch of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).
Also present at the event were Penghulu Ali Amit, Kampung Goebilt headman Nor Khozanah Hamdan and Kampung Goebilt Saberkas deputy chairman Shaanat Jumat.
