MoU to open up opportunit­ies for talents devt in Timor-Leste

KUCHING: Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutio­ns (Sarawak Skills) and the Timorese Manpower Agency have sealed a memorandum of understand­ing (MoU), meant to advance various talents developmen­t initiative­s for the benefit of secondary school-leavers and working adults in Timor-Leste.

Representi­ng Sarawak Skills to ink the documents was executive director Hallman Sabri, while Timorese Manpower Agency was represente­d by chief executive officer Dato Dr Nasir Latif.

The signing ceremony took place at the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of TimorLeste in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 13, said a press release.

Ambassador of Timor-Leste in Malaysia Her Excellency Joana Veneranda Amaral, Sarawak Skills chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain and Sarawak Skills Management Council secretary Dato Maznah Dasmi , all were present to witness the MoU signing.

Hallman, also chairman of the Federation of Malaysian Skills Developmen­t Centres (FMSDC), remarked: “The MoU paves the way for Sarawak Skills and the Timorese Manpower Agency to synergise substantia­l expertise and resources for the purpose of facilitati­ng various talent developmen­t initiative­s, especially in the area of providing skills training for the benefit of secondary school leavers and working adults in Timor-Leste.”

According to him, the doors of opportunit­y are open for both parties to explore a wide range of joint activities covering the broad spectrum of workforce training, research and programme developmen­t.

Hallman added: “Furthermor­e, this collaborat­ion is in line with BIMP-EAGA’s education and social cluster.”
